The most important thing about auditing techniques is that they are understood and agreed upon by both parties prior to the audit.

Rest assured, no testing techniques will be done outside of what is stated in the contract, and will not be done outside of the defined start and end time.

You will choose which techniques you want conducted when putting together your contract, and that contract will be signed and validated via DocuSign.

After your audit, you will be instructed on how to secure your systems so that they will be only accesible to you.

Here is a list of auditing techniques listed from the most passive techniques to the most obtrusive:

Passive Reconnaissance-: Involves gathering data from publicly available sources.
Pinging-: Sending data requests to your ip to see what information it returns.
Vulnerability Scanning-: A detailed scan of your system which can return operating system information which can then lead to understanding what type of attacks you may be vulnerable to.
Port Scanning-: Attempting to get information about open channels in your system.
Password Cracking-: Using password deciphering software to attempt to decipher passwords.
Privelege Escalation-: Using techniques to attempt to access the system as a privileged user.
Cross site scripting, Code Injection and other Web attacks-: Attempting to take advantage of user input fields on your site to see if data can be accessed or modified.
Phishing-: Sending fraudulent messages to employees to see if they can spot intruders.
Social Engineering-: Doing research on employees and contacting them with personal info in an attempt to decieve them into giving up sensitive information.
On premise attacks-: Seeing if security breaches or hacking techniques are possible at a physical location of business.

I have recently completed a Cybersecurity course at UT Austin and obtained my Comp TIA Security + Certification.

The CompTia Security + Certification is a global certification that validates that you have the core skills necessary for a career in IT security.
